Becoming a Vampire
- A vampire must drain the blood of its victim and replace it with some of his own; the two will then be buried together for a day to transfer the vampire’s “essence” to his victim. The human will then awaken a vampire.
- For a short period of time (several months) a newborn vampire has no humanity. In the grips of an overwhelming number of transformations, there will be times when they cannot control even a single impulse.
Being a Vampire
- A vampire will stop aging once they are turned, they stay the age they are turned forever. If a Vampire is born by two vampires, they will continue to grow until age 18 and then remain that age for all eternity.
- The basic senses of a vampire are extremely heightened from that of a regular human. They can hear, see, feel, smell, and taste more acutely. This is both a strength and a weakness for a vampire. They can see well in the darkness at night, but the bright sunlight of the day time bothers their eyes and irritates their skin. They can hear the details of a whispered conversation or the nervous fluttering of their beloved’s heart, but the cacophony of a crowded place can make it hard to hear anything.
- Heightened strength. Vampires have naturally what body builders would have to spend HOURS in the gym to achieve. Their strength is not super-human, they could not stop a speeding train with their pinky finger, but they might be able to lift one end of a small car several inches off the ground.
- Technically speaking, vampires, other than under-age born vampires, do not need to sleep, eat/drink food, or breathe. Although in an effort to properly blend in with human society and possibly out of habit (they were after all once human) many still engage in these activities.
- Blood is the main diet of a vampire. Whether a vampire consumes the blood of a human or the blood of an animal is up to the vampire in question. Human blood is by far the preferred choice of the vampire’s natural instincts, but this thirst for and especially partaking of human blood could make keeping friends and going unnoticed very difficult.
- They are able to go out during the day, but there are certain limitations. Not only does the sunlight weaken their powers, leaving them rather vulnerable, it can cause death if the vampire remains out too long. If a vampire finds themselves out in the sun, they will mostly likely be covered by a dark jacket or cloak to cover every inch of their skin. Even then, it will irritate their eyes and weaken them. Exposure will burn the vampire and many don’t want to take the chance. It’s best to stay underground or behind closed curtains during the day.
To Die
- Vampires must beware of wooden stakes, sunshine and fire, all of which are deadly to the undead. For jaded vamps, the most common method of suicide is "meeting the dawn."
Your Sire
- Your sire (the vampire who turned you) is responsible for your instruction, which includes feeding, glamoring and controlling those pesky impulses.
- She/he will have command over their “child” and the vampire will have no choice but to obey. The Sire will forever be stronger than their child so keeping them in line is no trouble; however, new vampires are difficult and take lots of patience. Their hunger is nearly uncontrollable in the beginning and Sires are responsible for their children’s mistakes for a short period of time.
Physical Appearance
- Their skin is pale and marble-like. Although this might make one suspect that an individual is a vampire, it wouldn’t be completely obvious. They are paler than normal, but by no means look like a corpse.
- A vampire’s skin is cooler to the touch than a normal human’s. This might be a tip off that an individual is a vampire, but it could also be explained away to the uneducated, not to mention the vampire who has learned the art of glamouring has it much easy.
- Fangs will appear when a vampire is angered, hungry, aroused or just plain showing off. They can produce their fangs at will to scare the nearby humans, especially the children.
- The eyes of a vampire will increasingly grow darker when they’re getting hungry. If a dark-eyed vampire approaches a human, the chances of that human escaping are slim.
Vampire Do’s:
- They have superhuman speed, lightning-quick reflexes, rapid healing of wounds, and heightened senses of hearing and smell.
- They do drink human blood. It is more potent than animal blood.
- Along with having a sire, vampires living or visiting Drausia answer to the Queen, so whilst visiting, the vampire must learn their ways or risk “meeting the dawn”.
Vampire Don’ts:
- They do not sparkle
- They do not like silver. It burns the skin and can immobilize a even the strongest of vampires.
- They do not have to kill a human in order to feed from one. There is plenty of blood to go around unless the vampire gets greedy.
