history so far: A happy family living on a vast and prosperous farm. A small framed mother who knew how to brew up the best beef and noodles and a father who knew how to hunt any game always brought a meal to the table. Never were there hungry stomachs in this household. Steaming homemade meat pies and fruit pies, the home was also well decorated. It was the perfect size for a family of four. A large stone barn was a twin in design to the stone farm house. Many farm animals lived on this vicinity while fields of crops stretched as far as the eye could see, with the occasional house here or there. All is peaceful and tranquil, one cannot doubt, with the calm woods patches in the back of their house and a larger stream flowing eloquently through the collections of trees. Thadius had grown up here, and with a great life to add. His mother taught him and his younger brother, by six years, proper manners and how to conduct themselves. Being the older brother, he always set an example.
Years passed and times change. A dark cloud loomed over the calm household when Thadius had been of the age of twenty four, his brother at eighteen. Their mother had become weaker due to an illness unknown. It made her younger self seemed aged and fatigue plagued her. Their father, always having to pay medical bills and worrying about finances because of it, started to become an alcoholic. Mellina allowed Alexandra to be, believing he would change in time and also believing she would overcome her illness. But on a peaceful night where the mother had just finished cooking a late supper, due to Alexandra being out late either drinking or womanizing, the door flung open in a drunken rage. In entered Alexandra, red in the face and wreaking in the smell of alcohol. Before Mellina could procure what to say to him, he grabbed her by her collar and beat her. Thadius grabbed his brother and hid him, as he always had when his father became too drunk. Alexandra had changed, and Thadius’ anger grew and grew. Xavier only cried, not understanding. Thadius, that night, took action. Walking out to his father, now sexually assaulting her, he had grabbed his father, a bulky and toned man from manual labor of farming, and attempted to throw him off of his mother. Failing and being punched him; he grabbed his father’s head and punched him repeatedly in the jaw. Alexandra grabbed his son and threw him on the ground, beat him breathless, and broke his one arm in the process. Thadius laid there, injured, his father leaving the house in a rage. The door broke off the hinges from his drunken strength…
Waking up from being unconscious from the pain, Thadius found himself in his bed, by his side was his mother and younger brother taking care of his injuries. Mother, crying, tried everything she could, and pleaded forgiveness from her son. Unable to speak, he shook his head and smiled to her, wording “I love you” to his mother. Angered, it was now the next night. Father had not returned home…yet. Laying in his bed, helpless, he only prayed his father would not enter the home tonight.
A whisper filled his room, a dark and eerie whisper, “Feeling hopeless?... Is all lost?... Do you wish to gain more strength?... The power to save your family?... To save anyone?... Do you wish to free your family from the pain?...” Thadius’ heart raced. I do… but what are these sounds I hear? he asked himself. Soon, a cloaked figure opened his window; a gust of freezing air followed him. The room seemed darker, colder, and deadlier. The figure stared down at the defenseless young man. The figure’s voice was raspy and shrill, one of a woman’s… “You wish to save them, do you not? Free them of their burdens, of their pitiful life? You wish to gain from this experience, a power to help all, correct?” Her hood fell, revealing a pale but stunningly beautiful woman with blood stained lips. She laughed as if insane and smiled a seductive smile towards Thadius. He was frozen by her charm. She slide on top of his body so she could pin him down, staring deep into his eyes, her brilliant white yet empty eyes peering into his very desires. “Such powers need sacrifices, and you will learn them as you go… because you are such a handsome meal, I’ll make you mine to…mold.” she said in his ear, her mouth tracing down his neck, her mouth opening, and her fangs sinking deep in his neck, opening up all vessels needing to be pierced. He went to scream, but her hand muffled his sounds. He was paralyzed, dying. His eyes grew heavy; the world around him was turning black…
Waking up, as if planned, Thadius heard the door to his house slam open again, the door his mother and brother had to repair themselves. Soon, the sounds of screaming happened again as Father attacked Mother. Thadius felt helpless, and as he went to move his broken arm… ah! His arm levitated, as if not broken at all! Why, it was healed. He stood up, and he had all his strength… except he was so thirsty… deathly thirsty. He searched his room for the woman, but his mother’s screams grew louder. With that, Thadius grew angrier and lusted for his father’s own screams, his pain, his death, his blood. Soon his bedroom door was kicked down. Thadius walked out to the kitchen, a new confidence in himself. He stared at his father, called out his name sharply, and kept walking towards him. As his father looked up, Thadius kicked him in the rib, hearing every single one break. His father flew against the wall. This new strength and adrenaline boost engulfed his mind with overconfidence and an unclear mind. Soon, he found himself tearing his father from limb to limb, blood everywhere… Thadius stared at the blood and went into frenzy. He drunk the entirety of his father’s blood, turned to his mother and drained her. He soon tore the house apart for his brother. With a scream, soon the house fell silent.
Snapping out of his rage and frenzy, Thadius came back to reality. He stared at the corpse of his mutilated brother. All he could hear was the woman’s voice…
“Such powers need sacrifices, and you will learn them as you go…”
He had indeed freed his family of pain and suffering and worldly troubles… he freed himself too. He did not realize this, as it was a morbid thought, but soon Thadius went to his knees and mourned for hours. Finsihing, he took a deep breath and lit his house on fire, having whatever could be burnt in the stone house burn. He drained all the farm animals and set fire to the barn, wanting to make sure he would not go into frenzy for a long time, and not wishing to leave a trace of his actions. The woman never appeared again. Abandoned, he was alone. Not knowing what he was, where to go, who to trust, or even to trust himself in decisions (as it lead to his family’s death, he told himself) he wandered aimlessly, in no direction, to a paradise he knew did not exist. Discovering the weaknesses of a Vampire, he fed from mainly animals, rarely feeding from humans. His skin became pale. He never aged, and after hundreds of years of attempting to live amongst various groupings of humans, he discovered what he was called was a Vampire. He heard of a land where Vampires had lived, ruled by a hierarchy, but offered protection and understanding of his own kind. He took another pilgrimage to this land, believing it was the paradise he was blindly searching for. Will his life forever be plagued with unhappiness, or will he find a “family” of Vampires that accept him? Will he finally belong and gain confidence in himself and trust to others, or live in fear? He knew his life depended on this land, but how will the people of the land mold him?
“Such powers need sacrifices, and you will learn them as you go… because you are such a handsome meal, I’ll make you mine to…mold.”
[/size][/ul]the sample post: Can I be ever so lazy and use the brief history as a sample of writing? It is a story, after all. If you wish for me to produce a sample post, though, then I’ll understand. Just wondering if I can take the easy way out. ; )
Thanks!
