••• In 1763 someone made a decision.
Because of that decision, the world was quite literally ripped in two.
In our dimension, things progressed just as they were always supposed
to, but in the newly created parallel one, something had gone
horribly wrong.
••• Cambridge, 2063.
Three hundred years later, and that decision has had time to do its
damage. Cambridge is full of political subterfuge, with two noble
families fighting for control of the city, while the poor are left to fend for
themselves, if they’re lucky. Society is practically Dickensian in the way
the lower classes and women are treated, while the upper classes living
off the fat of the land, even with 21st century technological advances. The
thing is, somehow the stories of our world have filtered through into this
parallel one, and are affecting the lives of the people living there. Fairy
stories, to be exact, leaving everyone there having their fates bound to that
of their fantasy counterpart. Perhaps no one would ever have noticed,
except people from our world have suddenly started falling through into
this Other Cambridge, and that’s really shaken things up. People who’d
before been despondent and downtrodden now have hope of another world,
where things are as they should be, and it’s given them the driving force
they needed to start to fight back. Change is coming, and you’re going to
have to choose your side and fight for it, or the only thing you’ll ever be is
the King of Cowards
