Heavy is the crown we must wear…
Royalty:
- Gromph Ilphrin De Lac [Deceased]
- Halisstra Rauva De Lac [Deceased]
- King of the Elves: Araevin Nelfein De Lac
- Princess of the Elves: Azaala Quenthil De Lac
Born into what most would consider ‘the perfect life’, the De Lac twins were worshiped by many before they could even talk. Their loving parents spared no expense to keep their children safe and happy. They even managed to keep them in the dark about the war that teetered on the horizon of their peaceful forest kingdom. No worries or cares, young Araevin and Azaala grew up in a world where their adolescent imaginations and wants were allowed to flourish and thrive. Both children were spoiled in their own right, until their sixth birthday, when Araevin was moved from the nursery he and Azaala shared to chambers of his own. There he was given tutors of the best quality that taught the crowned prince the ways of the world. Azaala was given tutors of her own, but they taught her proper etiquette of a princess and things she would need to know to some day provide as a suitable partner for whomever her parents arranged for her to marry.
Sent down separate paths that defined what they would be known as in later years, the twins still remained as close as ever, relying on one another for encouragement. Each excelled in their task given by their tutors, which gave the kingdom the peaceful knowledge that when the pair would be as great as their parents in continuing to lead their Kingdom to greatness. By the time the twins turned 11, all were trying to find ways to be apart of the twin’s lives. Even at 11, Azaala possessed such a natural grace and beauty that had many male eyes were already turning we way, waiting for the time when she would be looking for suitors.
Araevin also held a charming wit and maturing good looks that often got him out of a scolding or two from many of the female and some male palace staff members. Their father, being a strong advocate for unity amongst all races, went to hold audience with the Human leader in the Midlands. A few days after his return, he fell gravely ill having contracted some disease while traveling. Everyone in the kingdom was in an uproar and fully blamed the Humans for their King’s illness. On that day, all the work towards peaceful unity with any race that Gromph had worked towards was shattered. No one was to be trusted and every outsider was forbidden to pass through the forest divide. On the eve of the twin’s 12th birthday, King Gromph passed peacefully in his sleep, much to the attempts of the kingdom’s best healers to cure him.
Trying to overcome her grief at losing her love, Queen Halisstra continued to rule, but the Kingdom could see she was slowly losing herself. A few months later, she passed away from a broken heart, partly cause of Gromph’s death and partly because she was unable to attend to her children the way she use to. The Elven nation went in to uproar with threats of riots and anarchy engulfing them. Every one fought over who would rule until the crowned prince was of age, but no one trusted anyone to not use that time to get rid of the rightful heirs to the throne. It wasn’t until Araevin, age 12, held council with his father’s advisers and commanded the title and respect that was due to him. No one would rule this kingdom but him.
Until he reached his coming of age, he would rule under the guidance of the Scepters. On his 18th birthday, his coronation would be held and he could freely control the land. The beloved royal twin’s 18th birthday is only a day away and each feel the building pressure of what is expected of them. Araevin knows that most are waiting for a moment of weakness before they strike at him, but he refused to give them the chance. Along with new responsibilities, the twins are expected to think about their future marriages; suitable marriages would be discussed and planned out for both twins, by the Scepters with newly crowned King’s approval.
