Character Creation
- Upon registering, you should modify your profile and include some necessary information such as your character's name. You may not leave your name as that you registered with - names like "Doggygurl18b04" will not be accepted. Instead, you must have the name (first and last) of your character. If you need help thinking of a name, check out a site like baby names.com.
- We do not, and will not, accept character's names/histories from other books, movies, anime, bands, ect. We strive for originality and copying another's work isn't original. You can have the first name of your favorite movie character (within reason, let’s not get ridiculous) or perhaps you like the last name more. But you cannot have the first and last name.
- You must create an avatar for your character. It can be a celebrity or someone you found off of Google, but please use someone that isn't already being used. To find out if a particular celebrity is available please check the Celeb Claim List. Also in this section is a thread where you can request that someone else make an avatar for you, so there is no excuse for you not to have one.
- No Anime! Our characters are real people, or is some cases also animals, so the pictures you use should reflect that realism.
Role-Play Etiquette
- Read the entire thread - If you're going to jump into a thread, be aware of what's going on. Know who is in the room or who is involved in the situation. Know what happened before, not just what's going on at the moment.
- Take your time - It’s ok if your reply is a day or two behind. Taking a moment to carefully think out a proper reply is a courteous way of letting the other person know you are at least trying. Also it’s always good to re-read your post and spell-check them before submitting them.
- Spelling & Grammar - All words should be properly spelled out and spelled relatively correctly (mistakes do happen). We strongly recommend typing your reply in Microsoft Word first; it will catch most mistakes for you. If you still cannot get Basic English grammar down then we will assume that you are MUCH too young to be posting on this board and ban you.
- Stay in Character - Many people read the threads around the board. We’ve all been victim of OOC in the midst of a post, but seriously no one wants to know about what happened in your day during what’s suppose to be a role-playing thread. There are areas for such talk to take place whether it’s through PMs, IMs, or for a quick note, the Chat box conveniently at the bottom of the site.
- No God-Modding - You are not God and therefore cannot make others do what you want within your post. Stick to only the actions your character will make and let others reply with their reactions. The exception to this rule is if both characters in the scene belong to you, or if you have special permission from the owner of the character allowing you to dictate how their character’s actions.
- Swearing - The board has no official rules prohibiting swearing, but please let’s keep it to a minimum. We would like our character’s speech patterns to be authentic (and we know that sometimes “drat” and “heck” just don’t cut it.)
Whatever you do make sure that you are never guilty of the dreaded O.L.D (One Liner Disease.) Let’s face facts folks, if someone going to spend a few extra minutes writing out a paragraph or more in your post there’s nothing more disheartening then receiving an O.L.D (a short and mediocre post with bad grammer and no feeling wrapped up in one sentence) in return. It makes you feel like the person you are RPing with didn’t put in the same effort that you did. So for those of you suffering from O.L.D please learn some grammer, read some more posts and perhaps ask for some ideas from our members to stave off the affects of your terrible affliction. To let O.L.D rule your posting is one way of getting yourself banned.
Note: Posts that are considered as spam, that are too short, or are bad role-playing will be deleted by the moderators without explanation, since we expect everyone to be aware of the rules.
You must role-play in third person, “story book” format. It makes it easier for all of us to read.
Activity
- When you register, you have 1 week to become sorted and to get your profile to comply with the storyline. If you aren't sorted and don't post a character bio within that time frame you may be removed from the site.
- We have two month inactivity checks. That means members who have not logged on in the last 60 days are deleted. Members need to be aware of this. Especially if you're gone and suddenly come back to find your names are deleted. This is the reason why. If we are not told of any impediments, the administration will delete said accounts with heavy hearts.
- If you suddenly find yourself swamped with homework, grounded, without internet, on vacation, etc. please let us know that in the “Away, Vacation, ETC.” thread located in the Conversation Room.
